Our exposure to making custom guitars began in Charlottesville at Tinkersmiths Makerspace. With the completion of the CNC milling machine came opportunities to form shapes for usable objects including musical instruments. Simply starting off milling flat guitar bodies with simple profile tool paths to moving into contoured bodies with more advanced adaptive milling opened our eyes to the creative possibilities beyond the shapes of the classics. Eventually the gang progressed into milling our own necks and fretboards.
